Chicago Flame Hardening is equipped to handle large-scale industrial components that require straightening after fabrication or heat treatment.
Define your straightening requirements
Our East Chicago, Indiana facility evaluates shafts, plates, square stock, castings and fabrications for mechanical straightening. Press capacity alone does not determine whether a particular component can be straightened: geometry, material condition and the required tolerance also matter.
Describe the measured distortion
Send the drawing and describe the condition you have measured. For a shaft, identify the affected locations and measurement reference. For a plate or fabrication, identify the surfaces or features that must meet the specified alignment or flatness requirement.
Include the material grade, dimensions, weight, previous heat treatment and remaining machining allowance. Photographs help explain the condition, but the drawing and acceptance requirements are the starting point for review.
Coordinate straightening with other processing
Tell us which manufacturing steps are complete and which remain. If a part also needs flame hardening or stress relieving, our team can review how straightening fits into the sequence. Confirm the required tolerance and inspection method before scheduling work.
